Here at The BRAVE Foundation we offer three retreats a year for young wāhine mā.
We take the girls out of town for five days to a rural setting where we provide a variety of workshops to help enhance their hauora and give them the tools they need to continue to strive in everyday life.
We have recently completed our first retreat of 2023, which was based out at Waimarama. With the ocean being right at our doorstep we took full advantage of it by allowing the girls to have time out/free time right there.
The girls spent the first day getting to know each other with some team building activities/games, settling in with some light workshops, and creating treasure boxes.
Throughout the week it was a continuation of team building with more workshops that got them to really take a look at themselves and their relationships with everyone in their lives.
The last night the girls were treated with a day of self-care and beauty where they got their hair and make-up done followed by a professional photoshoot down at the beach, and finally finished off with prize giving and a beautiful Kai.
Overall the retreat went well and the girls have created strong and caring friendships with each other.
