HOW BRAVE CAN HELP
We offer holistic support to young women as they address their sexual trauma and build resilience and wellbeing. Our approach has been refined and validated over 20 years.
Our BRAVE Services
Retreats
Retreats are educational and therapeutic experiences for survivors, who come together to connect and learn in a safe space. Our retreats feature guest speakers and session topics include recovering from trauma, recognising unhealthy relationships, self-esteem, self-care and budgeting. They're often held in school holidays, and in collaboration with ACC.
Monthly workshops and activities
To meet the needs of our BRAVE community these sessions serve as regular check-ins with programme participants, and topics are chosen in response to their input. Examples of workshops include art therapy, budgeting, yoga, employment support and self-defence. We also invite along female powerhouses who are survivors of sexual assault to share their journeys and provide inspiration and encouragement.
Ongoing support
Through the BRAVE community. Young women make a range of connections – professional and personal – they can draw on to build their resilience and wellbeing. Friendships formed through BRAVE provide vital support and combat feelings of isolation and loneliness.
Referrals
Our team members are qualified mental health practitioners, social workers, youth workers and counsellors. Should additional expertise be required, we can refer young women for further support to ACC-funded social workers and counsellors for individual, tailored care
